According to the Evening Standard, AC Milan are confident of signing Diego Costa from Chelsea ahead of his preferred choice, Atletico Madrid.
Costa has been subject to many transfer rumours this summer, with him and Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte falling out over a disagreement on the manager’s future plans for the Spaniard.
The striker wanted a move back to Atletico Madrid, where he played before joining Chelsea, and he was even spotted partying in Brazil with an Atletico shirt on, but the deal would be complicated due to the Spanish club’s transfer ban.
With the recent arrival of Alvaro Morata, Costa now has even more of a reason to leave. His game-time would be further limited during a World Cup year and the recent upturn in form of Michy Batshuayi is also a factor.

It has been reported that the Italian giants AC Milan want to hijack Atletico’s move for Costa and have been in talks with his agent, Jorge Mendes.
Mendes saw Milan as a destination for Costa to go on loan to until January, before then joining Atletico in January once their ban has been lifted.
However, I Rossoneri are now confident of signing him after Atletico are stumbling over the £50m fee and the Italians are prepared to add Costa to the list of 10 players who have joined them this summer.
