Diego Simeone has talked up the chances of Diego Costa joining Atletico Madrid in January from Chelsea, as reported by the London Evening Standard.
Costa’s future at Chelsea has looked very bleak after falling out with head coach Antonio Conte over the manner the Italian told Costa that he was not in his plans for the new season.
The Brazilian-born Spanish international wants a move back to Madrid, the club he left to join Chelsea, despite not being able to play for them until January due to their transfer ban.
If Costa is to get his wish then he will either have to sit on the sidelines until January or go out on loan for half a season, to get game time and stay match fit, as he’ll want to guarantee his place in the Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup.

In a recent interview Simeone mentioned Costa and how a deal for the Chelsea man could be possible.
Diego Costa? If he comes in January… we can’t say anything about that yet. I won’t speak about him now. He is a player of Chelsea. We will talk about the boys who are here now, because we have a late start to the season. That is what is important.
