It has been reported that Riyad Mahrez is expecting Leicester City to take note of the agreement that they came to last summer which will allow him to leave during this summer’s transfer window.
It was Leicester’s previous manager Claudio Ranieri that managed to bargain with the player to get him to stay at the club for a further season after the astonishing Premier League title win. During this time, Mahrez gained a lot of interest from several European clubs.
Tottenham and Arsenal are both the front runners in trying to wrap up this transfer in the coming summer window. This is as Tottenham already showed their interest in the winter transfer window but they will be more determined this time due to the increasing unlikeliness of them agreeing a deal to sign Wilfired Zaha from Crystal Palace.
Arsenal were also on the look out to sign him in the previous summer window but he then signed a new deal to keep him at the Premier League champions.
Other European names have also been thrown into the mix of clubs which are interested. Marseille look to be interested in signing The Foxes player, with European giants Barcelona also being linked with a possible move.
However, their has also been talk that Chelsea are interested in bringing the midfielder to Stamford Bridge. This is due to reports that current Chelsea midfielder Willian has become increasingly frustrated at the fact he has lost his place to Pedro in recent games and that he might seek a summer move.
If Chelsea do allow the Brazillian star to leave, they’ll apparently seek a deal to bring in Mahrez, who expects to be allowed to make his own move this summer.
