Chelsea progressed into the FA Cup final after a triumphant 4-2 victory over Tottenham at Wembley.
Despite Tottenham dominating possession, Chelsea never once went behind in the game and took an early lead within four minutes when Willian wrong-footed Hugo Lloris with a curling free-kick.
Harry Kane deservedly equalised, however, stooping low to flick his header past Thibaut Courtois. Spurs continued to dictate play from then on in, but a sloppy tackle from Heung Min-Son led to a Chelsea penalty being awarded, and after some deliberation, Willian took the ball off Michy Batshuayi and dispatched the spot-kick comfortably to put Chelsea back in front with just minutes to play in the first-half.
The second-half began with Tottenham once again on the front foot as they went in search of a second equaliser. Their hard work was repaid in the 52nd minute when Dele Alli smashed the ball into the roof of the net after Christian Eriksen had expertly curled the ball into the path of the English midfielder.
They say substitutions change games, and this was certainly the case for Chelsea, as the introductions of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa instigated a swing in momentum that Spurs ultimately couldn’t come back from.
Hazard picked out the left-hand corner with a sweet right-footed drive to restore Chelsea’s lead for the third and final time. A moment of pure magic from Nemanja Matic eventually settled the game once and for all, as he hit a first-time pile driver in off the crossbar from roughly 30 yards out.
