Chelsea pushed their lead atop the Premier League table back to ten points on Monday evening after a 2-1 win over West Ham at the London Stadium.
The match began with the Blues countering at a breakneck pace, and it paid off in the 25th minute when N’Golo Kante intercepted a pass deep in Chelsea’s defensive third. Three passes later — from Kante to Eden Hazard to Pedro and back to Hazard — and 11 seconds later, the Belgian found the back of the net for his 11th goal of the season.
West Ham were desperate for a goal, and the Blues’ counter attack seemed destined for a second goal. Five minutes after half-time, Chelsea’s lead doubled. It began when Hazard and Victor Moses went on a counter from again deep in Chelsea’s defensive zone. Hazard played a one-two off his back — yeah, that happened — with the Nigerian. The counter led to a corner, where Cesc Fabregas’ inswinger found Diego Costa inside the six-yard box.
West Ham’s goal came via Manuel Lanzini in the second minute of stoppage time.
Here’s what we learned from Chelsea’s 21st win of the season.
