Reports from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato suggests that Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane is an apparent admirer of Spanish midfielder, Cesc Fabregas.
Contrary to his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge, Fabregas’ first-team minutes are far and few between.
With summer addition of N’Golo Kante, the former Barcelona man has seemingly lost his starting position under Antonio Conte.
With only two wins in Los Blancos’ last six, the Frenchman is reported to be looking for a new midfield maestro come the opening of the summer transfer window.
History suggests that Fabregas would be likely to turn down this appetising lifeline, though, after rejecting the same offer when the Spaniard called it quits at Arsenal in 2011.
Should Fabregas continue to be left out of this Chelsea side that looks set for another Premier League title, for the remainder of the season Madrid will feel confident about the likelihood of doing a deal in the summer.
The Blues’ may use the Real Madrid’s interest as leverage in an effort to lure Los Blancos’ striker Alvaro Morata who has had a constant link with the London club for quite some time.
