David Luiz’s stunning free-kick on Tuesday has put Chelsea within touching distance of the Premier League title, with the 1-1 draw against Liverpool sending the Blues nine points clear at the top of the table.
Antonio Conte will now hope to put more space between Chelsea and their title rivals, with an emphatic win over Arsenal this Saturday.
While the spoils were shared at Anfield, Arsenal suffered a shock 2-1 home loss to Watford – as the suspended Arsene Wenger looked on from the stands.
Chelsea moved nine points clear despite drawing to Liverpool, as title rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal all dropped points in midweek – with only Manchester City picking up a win, demolishing West Ham 4-0.
Alexis Sanchez is Arsenal’s biggest attacking threat, the midfielder is currently joint top scorer with Diego Costa (15), and has had a hand in 23 goals in 23 games (the most in the league).
With N’Golo Kante the man tasked with stopping the Chilean, Sanchez may be in for a tough afternoon – after the Frenchman won an astounding 14 tackles against Liverpool, he was unlucky not to have been rewarded with three points for his endeavours.
Chelsea have a fully fit squad to pick from, Arsenal, on the other hand, are sweating over the fitness of Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey while Santi Cazorla is a known absence from the game.
