Since his big-money move from Atletico Madrid Diego Costa has produced two things consistently: goals and controversy.
The Spanish international has received 25 bookings, 24 yellow cards and one red card, in his two and a half years in the Premier League, something that has kept him in the headlines.
Recently Costa expressed his own beliefs, opening up about the subject with Spanish outlet Onda Cero, as reported by the Express.
During the interview, Costa expressed that he felt like a target for fans and referee in England and that he is treated differently from other players in the Premier League.
The striker also said:
I’m not going to talk about English referees I could get a suspension for four or five games if I did that!
The Brazilian-born Spaniard said that he prays to God to help prevent the treatment from distracting him. While Costa refuses to publicly state his thoughts on referees, there is no doubt that he will continue to be the centre of their attention anytime he steps on the pitch.
