The Colombian has failed to impress during his time at Real Madrid, with only making limited appearances this season meaning he’s edging ever closer to the exit door.
James Rodriguez, 25, transferred to Real Madrid from Monaco in 2014 for an estimated fee of around £63 million after he played a huge part in getting Colombia to the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup which he won the Golden Boot at for scoring six goals in five games.
Oscar looks set to make his move to China in January for a fee estimated to be around £60 million which would fund the majority of the fee needed to sign the Colombian.
Rodriguez would be an exceptional addition to the Chelsea team playing on the right wing supplying and causing a huge threat alongside Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.
In 63 La Liga appearances, Rodriguez has scored 21 goals and assisted 23 goals which is more than any La Liga midfielder including the likes of, Luka Modric, Andres Iniesta and Toni Kroos. These stats just show the impact the out of favour Colombian midfielder has on his team.
Imagine having him on the right-hand side of the front three with Victor Moses overlapping and having the likes of Costa and Hazard leading the counter attacks. We are scoring goals for fun at the minute but with Rodriguez, who knows what we’d accomplish.
Looking forward to next season where we will hopefully be back in the Champions League, we need experienced players who know the tournament well and can help us in difficult games. Rodriquez has played for Monaco and Real Madrid already in the Champions League and took part in the groups and qualifiers last season when Real Madrid won the Champions League.
I personally believe James would be a great addition to our strong Chelsea side with the departure of Oscar looking likely. Rodriguez went to the British Embassy in China to get a working Visa allowing him to now join an English club, so should Chelsea sign him up now?
