Antonio Conte’s Chelsea made it nine wins in a row as they regained their three-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
A single goal from Diego Costa gave Chelsea enough to seal all three points in what was a tightly contested affair.
Tony Pulis’ side set out to stop Chelsea in the wide areas at Stamford Bridge, defending very deep inside their own half when the Blues were in possession.
Chelsea were by no means at their best on Sunday afternoon but continued to push and press the Baggies’ back line, which resulted in making the breakthrough.
The Blues now move three points ahead of Arsenal, who started the day joint-top, alongside Chelsea only on goal difference.
It wasn’t the fast-paced, entertaining performance we’ve got used to seeing, but the importance of the three points couldn’t be greater.
