Chelsea returned to the top of the Premier League table, after a come from behind victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
The win also prolonged Chelsea’s 27 year undefeated home streak over Tottenham. Chelsea started the game very slowly, and their sloppy passing allowed Tottenham to gain control in the midfield.
Spurs’ first chance came when Harry Kane’s strike hit the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside.
Tottenham did, however, take the lead when Danish attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen struck a fierce long-range effort past Thibaut Courtois, who was beaten for the first time in six games.
Just before half-time, Chelsea got back on level terms when Pedro, who had been having an uncharacteristically bad game. He ‘Cruyff turned’ on the edge of the area before bending a superb shot past Hugo Lloris.
Chelsea started the second-half with the same attacking impetus as they had ended the first, and it was not long till until the Blues took the lead for the first time in the game.
Diego Costa bulldozed his way to the byline before picking out Victor Moses at the back post who slotted the ball home, despite the best efforts of Jan Vertonghen on the line.
Tottenham couldn’t make their dominance count in the closing stages of the game and as a result, Chelsea were able to edge out a much-needed victory.
