Antonio Conte’s Chelsea moved above Manchester City, to the top of the Premier League following a 5-0 win over Everton on Saturday night.
Goals from Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso, Diego Costa and Pedro sealed all three points for Conte.
Hazard opened the scoring on 19 minutes, with a beautifully curled effort that beat Maarten Stekelenburg in the Everton net. There was a hint of offside with Pedro closing the ‘keeper down, but the goal stood.
Just moments later, the Blues made it two. Alonso was at the end of Pedro’s cut back to smash the ball through the legs of Everton’s Stekelenburg, where he should’ve done better to save the Spaniard’s attempt in all honesty.
Costa made it three inside the first half after he found space inside the penalty box. He smashed the ball hard and low to beat the Dutchman.
Hazard got his second of the game just before the hour mark, on the back of some scintillating link up play with Pedro. He drifted in and out of the Everton defence before smashing it into the bottom corner.
Pedro scored the fifth of the game after Hazard’s shot was well saved, the Spaniard had a tap in.
We look at what we can learn from this win that moves Chelsea atop the Premier League.
