After yet another mundane international break, Chelsea return to action against the champions Leicester City on Saturday lunchtime. There were a few positives to take from the international break, however – as Diego Costa continued his fantastic run of form with a goal against Albania, in Spain’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.
There were also goals for Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic in their respective qualifying games against Gibraltar and Moldova. Whilst Brazilian winger Willian grabbed himself a goal in the early hours of Tuesday morning against Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Leicester City had a far more drab week of international fixtures – with only Kasper Schmeichel and Daniel Amartey playing any sort of role for their respective countries. Whilst Leicester will be looking to get back to winning ways after a 0-0 draw with Southampton – Chelsea, on the other hand, will hope to build upon their much-needed win over Hull City last time out.
Chelsea look set to welcome back a plethora of first team players this weekend – with the long-awaited return of veteran captain John Terry set to take place, whilst Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel are also set to return in time for the game. Frenchman Kurt Zouma will have to wait another week to return to action, however – as his eight-month absence finally looks set to come to an end.
Leicester have no fresh injury concerns coming into the game – with influential English midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who scored in last season’s fixture, set to return from a groin strain this Saturday. Matty James remains out with a troublesome ankle problem.
