Chelsea had a plethora of players out and away from the club in the last two weeks as a result of plenty of international recognition.
Whether it be at Under-21 level or at a senior level in another continent, The Blues’ players were representing their countries far and wide and in big numbers.
Here’s how all of those out on international duty got on:
Tammy Abraham, Lewis Baker, Nathan Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek,
The Chelsea quartet were all called up to the England under-21 squad for the qualifiers. They played against Kazakhstan as the youngsters secured their place in the World Cup with a 1-0 victory. Chalobah started the next game against Bosnia in a 5-0 win, in which Abraham bagged two goals.
Michy Batshuayi, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard
Batshuayi was an unused substitute as Belgium defeated Bosnia 4-1, but Courtois and Hazard both featured. Batshuayi did come on against Gibraltar, with Courtois also starting in the 6-0 victory. Hazard scored in the game.
Asmir Begovic
Begovic started both of Bosnia’s two qualifiers as they lost 4-1 to Belgium and beat Cyprus 2-0.
Gary Cahill
Cahill started and played 90 minutes for England in their two qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia, in which they won 2-0 and drew 0-0 respectively.
Diego Costa
Costa started for Spain in their 1-1 draw against Italy and managed to score against Albania in his side’s 2-0 win.
Branislav Ivanovic
Ivanovic started and scored in Serbia’s 3-2 win over Moldova, before helping his side to a 3-2 win over Austria.
N’Golo Kante
Kante was left on the bench in France’s win over Bulgaria and made a very late appearance against the Netherlands in his side’s 1-0 win.
John Obi Mikel
Mikel played the full match for Nigeria as they beat Zambia 2-1.
Willian
Willian came on as a substitute in Brazil’s 5-0 win over Bulgaria, before scoring against Venezuela in a 2-0 win on Tuesday.
