Chelsea started off September with a controversial 2-2 draw against a poor Swansea City team – Gary Cahill was seen to be fouled by Leroy Fer in the build up to Swansea’s second goal but the referee allowed the goal to stand.
A sluggish performance against Liverpool was to follow for the Blues, as they lost their first game under Antonio Conte.
A midweek comeback in the EFL cup seemed to have steadied the ship but that weekend, Chelsea were played off the park by Arsenal at the Emirates, losing the game 3-0.
