Chelsea travel to Watford on Saturday afternoon following a dramatic opening to their Barclays Premier League season on Monday evening.
Diego Costa’s 89th-minute winner over West Hame gave Antonio Conte the perfect start to his competitive career with Chelsea, getting off the mark with a 2-1 victory, sparking scenes of wild celebration from the Italian who is already adored by all Blues fans.
Conte’s new signings also went down well at Stamford Bridge, with Michy Basthuayi assisting Costa’s last-gasp strike after coming on as a substitute and N’Golo Kante impressing after covering nearly every blade of grass.
Watford’s new boss Walter Mazzarri also got off to an impressive start after a 1-1 draw away at Southampton last weekend, though he may have regretted bringing Ben Watson on after the midfielder was sent off in the 76th minute.
Costa may have been a tad fortunate that he did not follow in the same footsteps as Watson on Monday, after a slightly innocuous challenge on Hammers ‘keeper Adrian, however, he is available for Saturday’s clash, as are the rest of the Chelsea squad.
So, will it be more of the same for Conte, or will have spring a surprise? Here’s who we think he’ll start.
