Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea loanee Andreas Christensen on a permanent deal, according to the Evening Standard.
The 20-year-old Danish international is currently in the middle of his two-year loan deal with the German side and made 31 appearances in the Bundesliga last term. He scored three times and became an important part of Gladbach’s defence, as his side finished fourth in the league.

He will likely be in action next week as his club feature in the Champions League play-off’s against Swiss side BSC Young Boys, looking to book their place in group stages of Europe’s elite competition.
Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl has stated his intention of taking Christensen on a permanent deal, and the Standard report him saying on Monday:
We absolutely want to sign him. Now it depends on money.
A win against Young Boys in the Champions League playoff round may prove not just important for top level football next season, but also in securing funds for future transfers. Reaching the group stage of the competition will bring a big financial bonus to the club, as well as the opportunity to sell out at least three more home games next season against some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, convincing Chelsea to sell one of their brightest defensive prospects may prove a challenge in itself for Monchengladbach. It was revealed last month that the Blues had turned down a £14.5 million bid from the German side, who wanted to complete their transfer business early.
But with Chelsea a little short of young defensive options heading into a new era under Antonio Conte, it appears that they will be demanding a higher price for Christensen if they are to sell him at all.
