Having rounded off their tour of America with a resounding 3-1 win over AC Milan, Chelsea will now fly out to Germany to play Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on Sunday.
The squad will be back in London for a brief period, before playing their final pre-season match – as Antonio Conte begins to fine tune his starting XI for the upcoming season.
New signing N’Golo Kante is likely to start against Bremen, having come on to good effect against Milan. He will probably be joined by Belgium forward Eden Hazard – who has looked very lively in his two substitute appearances thus far, and Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado.
Serbian duo Nemanja Matic and Branislav Ivanovic will also be hoping to play, in hope that they can resurrect their current Chelsea careers – after some pretty abject performances in the tours of both America and Austria.
On the other hand, Ivanovic’s future successor Ola Aina will be hoping to consolidate on a breakthrough pre-season campaign. With a competent performance possibly guaranteeing him a start against West Ham in the first game of the season.
Werder Bremen will be hoping that new signing Max Kruse – who is returning to the side he previously spent three years at, is able to play a part in proceedings, following his £7 million move from Wolfsburg.
Fellow new signing Lamine Sane will also be hoping for a run out in Sunday’s game. Bremen will be looking to record their first win of pre-season – having drawn three and lost two of their five games thus far. Although they did beat the blues 3-0 in Germany just two years ago.
The Bundesliga outfit were due to face Lazio, but cancelled the game due to fears of crowd trouble, and organised a game with Chelsea at the last minute.
As throughout pre-season, you can watch the game live on ChelseaTV or sign-up to the channel and see highlights of both the tours so far.
