Falcao targeted by Chinese side while Remy may stay

Chelsea striker Ramadel Falcao, who is on loan from Monaco, has reportedly been targeted by Chinese side Jiangsu Suning, according to the Evening Standard.

Should a deal be made by the two sides before the Chinese transfer window shuts on 26th February, it’s likely Loic Remy will stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, as Chelsea chase FA Cup and Champions League glory.

Monaco are happy to allow Falcao to move on loan again, as long as his new club pay the striker’s wages. The Colombian, who has been ruled out of action since October with a thigh injury, earns over £135,000 a week, but it’s unlikely this will be a problem for the Super League side.

Falcao has scored just once for Chelsea, against Crystal Palace, when the Blues lost 2-1 to their London rivals last August. He has since lost his place in the Champions League squad after being replaced by Alexandre Pato.

A deal looks more likely than ever, especially as the two clubs have done business already this year. Jiangsu Suning signed Ramires from the Blues for £25 million in January, and the teams are on good terms.

Should Chelsea lose the Colombian striker this month, it would almost certainly confirm that Loic Remy, who is also sidelined by injury, would stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman has reportedly been targeted by a number of clubs in recent months, but with Pato still weeks away from full fitness, The Blues need a back-up forward in case Diego Costa gets injured or suspended.

The Spaniard broke his nose in training this week, but is likely to play through the pain and has been fitted with a protective mask ahead of Saturday’s clash with Newcastle.

The Blues will be hoping for three points aginst the Toon tomorrow, as Guus Hiddink looks to extend his 11 match unbeaten run as Chelsea boss.
