Chelsea are usually chastised for their extensive loan policy, loaning out more players than anyone can count.
With many talented players in many different leagues throughout Europe. Most of these players are at quality teams and one would have to wonder how these players would fare as a unit in the Premier League.
Here we take a look at what a possible squad of loaned players would look like in 2016.
Goalkeeper:
Matej Delac who is currently on loan at Sarajevo is a talented keeper, has already tasted success and looks to be a sturdy presence in goal.
Defenders:
Tomas Kalas has been an excellent young player, who can play both centre-back and right-back, for Chelsea and the clubs he has been loaned to. His most memorable game was away to Liverpool.
Papy Djilobodji may not have played much for Chelsea, but now on loan at Werder Bremen, he has made an immediate impact upon arrival. Good, quality defender.
Andreas Christensen could possibly be Chelsea’s future in the centre of defense. The highly regarded player has played consistently for a good Borussia Monchengladbach side in the Bundesliga.
Nathan Ake has been phenomenal for a Watford side that has surprised many. Around Chelsea, he is already being regarded as a future first team player.
Midfielders:
Marco Van Ginkel, now at PSV, has proved he has what it takes to play in the Premier League by putting in many strong showings for Stoke. A good spell in his homeland will help push him to the Chelsea first team.
Nathaniel Chalobah, who recently lost his mother, was praised by everyone at Napoli as a true professional. Highly regarded by many.
Juan Cuadrado, seen as a flop in a short term Chelsea stint, is now on loan at Juventus where he has played well. Supposed interest by Barcelona has shown the talent he possesses.
Marko Marin has once drawn comparisons to being the ‘German Messi’ but was merely average during his Chelsea time. After a couple of unlucky loans, he is now on loan at Trabzonspor. He is playing well, which has led him to becoming a fan favorite at his current club, who are pushing for an extension on his loan.
Mohamed Salah once terrorised Chelsea whilst at Basel, with his immense speed and quickness. He is now at Roma on loan, after a less than desirable, spell with Chelsea. If he continues his fine form at Roma, a second chance at Chelsea may come.
Forward:
Patrick Bamford is full of talent and full of goals. Excellent displays in the Championship led him to winning the Player of the season award last year and is now at Norwich after a failed spell at Crystal Palace.
Bench:
Mitchell Beeney, Michael Hector, Kenneth Omeruo, Christian Atsu, Victor Moses, Dominic Solanke Isiah Brown
With several players already playing in the Premier League as well as others in top leagues around the continent, a loan XI would excel in the Premier League. A top half finish would be highly likely.
Speed, strength, youth, talent, and goals are all present in this squad. Even the bench would play well and that shows the quality of Chelsea’s loan policy.
GK: Beeney, RB: Kalas, CB: Djilobodji, CB: Christensen, LB: Ake, CDM: Van Ginkel, CDM: Chalobah, RW: Cuadrado, CAM: Marin, LW: Salah, ST: Bamford.
