Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has told his Chelsea team that they should help Diego Costa, by assisting him, and help the club by scoring goals according to the Telegraph.
Diego Costa is Chelsea’s top scorer this season, however, he has only racked up five goals, and two of them came against Watford, in a 2-2 draw.
Costa is the only option up-front for Chelsea as Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy are currently out due to injury and has insisted that he must get the best out of his main striker. Hiddink believes that he must get the best out of the Spanish striker.
Hiddink told the media:
It’s a lot of responsibility, but not just on Diego. He has a big temper and wants to perform and is keen to score, but the other attacking players must play a part in assists and goals. There’s a lot of technical skill in the midfield and attacking positions. We have to see how the players can become more productive and take the next step.
I don’t know if it’s true the bigger clubs will eventually pull through. Normally you see teams like Leicester or Palace or Watford starting surprisingly well, let’s say until the leaves are going to fall, and then they will have some problems. But they’ve managed to maintain their good performances.
Chelsea travel to Selhurst Park this weekend off the back of a goal-less draw against Manchester United, a result that leaves them just three points off the relegation spaces. Crystal Palace currently occupy sixth in the league, 11 points and four wins above Chelsea.
Crystal Palace had a victory in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, winning by a 2-1 score line and collecting the three points.
Chelsea currently sit in 14th, level on points with Norwich City and A.F.C. Bournemouth, and in front on goal difference. They are one point in front of Swansea City.
