On today’s edition, we’re taking a closer look at a special goal in the Champions League semi-final.
It was a tough night in the Camp Nou as Chelsea faced off against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final. Chelsea went into the game with a 1-0 lead on aggregate after beating the Spanish giants.
Barcelona took the lead through goals from Sergio Busquets and Andreas Iniesta. Chelsea were also down to 10 for the most of the game after John Terry was sent off.
The Blues managed to pull a goal back through Ramires who dinked the ball over the out-rushing Victor Valdes. As it stood, Chelsea were progressing on the away goal rule.
The Catalan side were putting on the pressure though, Lionel Messi even missed from the spot.
It wasn’t until the final few moments when the biggest moment of the game happened.
After a late attack by Barca, a long ball forward found Fernando Torres with the entire half to run into and only Victor Valdes to beat. He rounded the goalkeeper and tapped the ball into the back of the net, to send Chelsea into the Champions League final.
That was not the only reason why the goal has been so famously remembered, Gary Neville’s vocal on-air celebration has made the goal one to remember,
