Hello and welcome to the eighth edition of our Read Chelsea advent calendar. Today we look back at a very special game from Jose Mourinho’s second season at Chelsea.
@ReadChelseaFC Joe Cole's goal vs Man United 2006 when we won the league

Let’s set the scene shall we? Chelsea were a win away from securing the Premier League title for the second consecutive season after winning the league during Mourinho’s first season in charge.
Who stood in their way? Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. No problem.
With their eyes on the prize, Chelsea started quickly and took the lead within five minutes through William Gallas.
In a 3-0 victory, it was the second goal that was caught the eye of many.
After a long goal kick from Petr Cech was brought down by Didier Drogba, Joe Cole had the ball at his feet with his back to goal, with Rio Ferdinand not giving him an inch to manoeuver.

Well, that is what the defender thought anyway.
After some neat footwork and a burst pace, Cole managed to beat Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Mikael Silvestre before curling the ball past the out rushing Edwin van der Sar.
Ricardo Carvalho scored Chelsea’s third and the name was on the trophy!
