According to London24, former Chelsea player and England international, Paul Parker has explained that Chelsea are hated by everyone under Jose Mourinho.
This statement comes as a result of certain comments that Mourinho made in his pre-match press conference before Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Maccabi Tel-Aviv. The particular comment mentions Graeme Le Saux and a few other former players that missed a UEFA game in Israel in 2001.
Parker told London24:
Here he is again with these Le Saux comments, going backwards, digging up nonsense. He’s let himself down as a manager, and as a man.
He continues on to explain how it affects Chelsea as a brand.
Apart from anything else it actually hurts the club. Chelsea fans love them, but they’re hated by everyone else – they’re never anybody’s second team, and that will restrict their growth around the world until things change. And that means until Mourinho changes his ways or leaves.
The ex-Chelsea man also believes that Jose Mourinho’s job is not safe, despite the victory against Norwich City on Saturday.
Everyone went a bit quiet on Mourinho’s possible sacking following his win at the weekend, but if they lose to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday night and follow it up with another defeat in the derby against Spurs on the weekend, things will start to look very different. All the talk of firing won’t be so far away.
Jose Mourinho is certainly not the most popular manager in the world. His personality and attitude can offend people at times, regardless of his record of success.
Parker is not the first person to speak out against the Portuguese tactician. There has been a long line of people that want Mourinho out of the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
It will be interesting to see how Chelsea do in their next two matches against Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Tottenham, how those results affect Mourinho’s job security.
