With his Chelsea side struggling to score goals, manager Jose Mourinho is set to make an initial bid for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, according to the Daily Express.
Griezmann has been constantly linked with Europe’s top clubs since his emergence onto the international stage at last summer’s World Cup.
His current club, Atletico Madrid, have reportedly placed a £40m price tag on the ex-Real Sociedad winger. The 24-year-old has impressed whilst playing in the Spanish capital, scoring 32 goals in his 69 appearances at the Vincente Calderon Stadium.
Griezmann will be used as a replacement for on-loan Radamel Falcao, who is poised to return to parent club AS Monaco after disappointing stints in England with both Manchester United and Chelsea.
However, with Mourinho’s job seemingly hanging in the balance, will the Portuguese boss get the opportunity to show that he can change the Stamford Bridge club’s fortunes in the January transfer window?
