ESPN are reporting today that Jose Mourinho has only two games remaining to save his job, after an embarrassing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
It is believed that Carlo Ancelotti is poised to take temporary charge of the club upon Mourinho’s dismissal. The report also says that the players have lost faith in Mourinho, with Dieter Hamann also making this claim in a recent interview
A new vote of confidence is due before the international break in November, meaning that a poor performance in the upcoming two games could seal the Portuguese manager’s fate.
Ancelotti was sacked as manager of Chelsea in 2011, having managed the club for two years previously. During his time at the club, he achieved the league and cup double in the 2009-10 season.
Mourinho has been managing Chelsea for two full seasons, and in that time won the league title and the league cup once. He was awarded last season’s Manager of the Season award.
