Dieter Hamann has said that Jose Mourinho has a ‘mountain to climb’ in order to save Chelsea’s season.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said that he doesn’t believe there is a way back for Mourinho and believes it’s gone too far for him to be able to save.
He has also said that Mourinho’s players will no longer “run through brick walls’ for him. However, Hamann can foresee a situation in which Mourinho’s job and the season could be saved.
It will be interesting to see what happens now in the run up to Christmas. If he starts picking up points there might be a chance they [the manager and players] can get closer together again and he gets the team back on track.
However, he says this scenario relies on the players performances improving drastically and for the team to be picking up wins, or Hamann believes Mourinho won’t last the season.
Chelsea were eliminated from the Capital One Cup on penalties by Stoke on Tuesday night, another result that just adds to the misery of Chelsea fans so far this season.
They will hope for a better result when they face Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick-off.
