Despite the poor form since the start of the season, former Brazilian defender Lucio has expressed confidence in Jose Mourinho, suggesting the Portuguese boss can change the Blues’ fortune.
Chelsea, who entered this season as champions, are currently sitting in 12th place in the table, 11 points behind table-topping Manchester City, who have already beat Mourinho’s men 3-0 back in August at the Etihad. As well as being well behind in the league, the West London side are also third in their Champions League group.

However, Lucio, who worked under Mourino during the successful years at Inter Milan where the treble was won, is confident that his former coach will turn things around at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues return to league action this weekend, taking the trip to Upton Park to come up against a West Ham side who have performed superbly against the ‘bigger teams.’ Mourinho will be hoping his side carry on their form from their last league outing which saw them beat Aston Villa at the Bridge.
According to FourFourTwo, Lucio said:
In Europe, Barcelona, Bayern [Munich], Real [Madrid] play at a very high level. In England also you have Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool who, along with Chelsea, play at a high level,
It is not easy to stay at the top all the time. Knowing him, he is not happy with the situation as well. But, 100 per cent he will come out of it and be back at the top very soon. He is capable of it and will do it.
Whenever the team loses, Mourinho is never smiling in the next training session. He always wants to win every game.
At Inter, when we lost a match once, all of us avoided him in the next training. I ran past him not even looking at his face.
But for me, he is the best manager I have played under in my career.
