Reunited with an old friend in Ray Wilkins, Chelsea came up against an Aston Villa side with both teams struggling for form. A hard-fought game turned into a comfortable 2-0 victory which is hopefully the start of a long run of successive victories this season.
Diego Costa scored the first after Willian capitalised on a mistake by the Aston Villa defence and proceeded to slip Costa in for an easy tap in. The second goal was a slight counter-attack by the blues which ended up in the net via an own-goal by Hutton.
With 3 points in the bag, confidence on the up and Mourinho with a smile on his face, tomorrow morning is likely to see the squad in better spirits.
