Chelsea wizard Eden Hazard admits that after enduring a tough start to the new season, he is no longer the untouchable player that he was in Chelsea’s double-winning season of 2014/15.
Last season, Hazard destroyed Premier League defences with a mixture of skill, pace and agility; scoring 14 goals and providing nine assists in the process. The Belgian playmaker was awarded for his fantastic performances by winning the illustrious PFA Player of the Year award.
This season, however, has not been as successful for the former Lille player, whose lacklustre performances earned him a place on the bench for Chelsea’s trip to Porto; although the Blues still lost.
It is true that I am no longer untouchable. You can be untouchable when you are playing well, but that has not been the case this season.
The whole squad has struggled at Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho’s men sitting scarily close to the dreaded relegation zone, despite being the clear favourites to retain the Premier League title before the start of the season.
With rumours surfacing that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is considering sacking Portuguese coach Mourinho, Hazard showed his support for the 52-year-old boss.
Mourinho is the best coach in the world to deal with this kind of pressure.
Hazard is expected to start as Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday. With both managers under pressure, who will prevail?
