Asmir Begovic has highlighted the importance of staying positive during this tough period Chelsea find themselves in the midst of.
The Blues need to use this international break to ‘clear heads’ according to the Bosnian.
Speaking to the media after his side’s 3-1 loss to Ronald Koeman’s Southampton, Begovic said:
It’s not the standard this club and team has set so for us at the moment it is a very difficult time. Hopefully this break comes at a good time and we can regroup, get a good result in the next game and drive on from there.
The 28-year-old was playing his seventh consecutive game for the club, as Thibaut Courtois remains sidelined.

On Saturday’s result in particular, Begovic attempted to explain where it all went wrong for Mourinho and his men.
We scored at a good time, we just couldn’t build from there. They made things very difficult for us and I think if we could have gone into half-time at 1-0 it’s a different game. When things are not going your way it’s tough; we’re playing against a lot of things at the moment, it’s a mental thing as well, but it’s just something we’ve got to keep fighting through.
Asmir joined from Stoke City over the summer and has been called into serious action early on thanks to Courtois’ injury.
The search for Chelsea to find a backup goalkeeper to provide cover for Begovic is still on, with Mourinho suggesting last week they were on the hunt for someone out of contract.
Marco Amelia has been at the club training and looks favourite to be that man.
