Liverpool legend and former defender Jamie Carragher has compared Chelsea to Championship side Leeds United.
Carragher has compared the Blues’ recent form to that of Leeds United who just kept getting worse and worse and now see themselves as a mid-table side in the second division of English football.
Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea are currently sitting in 16th position in the Premier League following their 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday against Southampton.

So far this term, the current Champions have only won two fixtures in the league, West Brom and Arsenal respectively. The west London side are now sitting relatively close to the relegation zone in which is an unfamiliar situation for this squad – and club. The Blues have now lost four games in the domestic season against Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Everton and Southampton. Mourinho’s side have already suffered more defeats this season than they did throughout the whole of the last campaign.
In quotes sourced by Goal, Carragher said:
It’s shocking stuff from the champions. I’ve never seen anything like it before in the Premier League era You have to go back 25 years to Leeds United for something like this. A team winning the title and performing so poorly.
