According to the Daily Express, Chelsea are rumored to be looking to bolster the back line even more in January with a rejuvenated effort to sign Kostas Manolas from AS Roma during the mid-season transfer window.
An Italian publication suggested that Roma had no intentions of selling the defender, which denied the Blues the opportunity to sign the 24-year-old on deadline day of the summer window.

When asked about joining Chelsea, the Greek international said:
Chelsea? I can say that, I have another five-year contract, I’m happy to be here [Roma] and I want to win something with this shirt.

It is not known just how much Manolas is worth or what Chelsea would be willing to pay for the Greek international’s services.
Having already added Papy Djiloboji and Abdul Baba Rahman for approximately £24 million, Mourinho is adamant on improving a back line that has been a shell of its former self this season.
