Chelsea striker Diego Costa will find out today if he will face any retrospective disciplinary action following his clash with Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny in Saturday’s London derby, according to Mark Critchley of the Independent.
Koscielny’s defensive partner Gabriel was sent off moments later after confronting Costa and treading on the striker’s foot.
Costa seemingly slapped Koscielny in the face and then bumped into him, sending the Frenchman flying to the ground.
Referee, Mike Dean did book Costa, however, the reason for doing so still remains unclear at this stage. If he did not see any of the incidents mentioned above, then the Brazilian-turned-Spaniard could face a three-match ban.
Diego Costa has been hit with a retrospective ban in the past. In January, he was banned for three games after an independent regulatory commission deemed that he intentionally stamped on Liverpool’s Emre Can during the Capital One Cup Semi-Final against Liverpool.
