After signing from FC Augsburg for a reported £21.7 million fee, Baba Rahman is hoping to become a regular fixture in Chelsea’s defence.
Following Chelsea’s 4-0 win at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv, Rahman told BBC Sport:
I am hoping to play very, very often – my main aim is to play as many games as I can here.
The former Asante Kotoko man may get his wish in the near future with Branislav Ivanović enduring a drastic drop in form as he fast approaches the end of his contract.
The left-back made a positive start to his Chelsea career, helping his side to their first clean sheet this season. An aggressive and energetic display for the full 90 minutes highlighted Rahman’s physical capability although his end product may have been inaccurate, suggesting Mourinho has a raw talent to work with.

Rahman is already a regular starter for his national side after making his Black Stars bow last year. The bustling left-back played every single minute of Ghana’s campaign at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, scoring his penalty in a dramatic final which eventually saw Ivory Coast emerge victorious 9-8.
Rahman has also revealed that compatriots Michael Essien and Christian Atsu encouraged him to make an impact in West London.
They gave me some top lines of advice and told me that I if push hard I can make it through. I’m really working hard to keep the momentum going.
