Arsenal is preparing a £14million bid to snatch Belgian Under-21 international Youri Tielemans from under the noses of Chelsea according to Calciomercarto. The midfielder is a product of the Anderlecht youth team which developed Adnan Januzaj, Vincent Kompany and former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
The 18-year-old made his Anderlecht debut in 2013 and on 2nd October of that year became the youngest player to appear in the UEFA Champions League aged 16 years and 148 days. He has played eight times for the national Under 21 side scoring three goals and it is only a matter of time before he makes his full debut for Marc Wilmots’ side.
He has already scored three goals in his six games this season for Anderlecht who finished third in the Juliper Pro League (Belgian Pro League) in 2014/15. His current record stands at 93 games and 13 goals for his club and he has won the Belgian Young Professional Footballer of the Year award for the past two seasons.
Tielemans has a bright future ahead of him and has attracted the interest of a number of Europe’s elite clubs including Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea. He would be the ideal kind of player to partner Nemanja Matic in the Blues’ midfield and if the predictions for his future are correct then the quoted figure of £14million is a bargain.
