Chelsea’s new winger, Pedro, has brushed aside reports claiming that he refused a move to Manchester United due to manager Louis van Gaal’s tough methods, according to The Guardian.
The Spaniard was critical over United’s treatment of his former Barcelona team-mate Victor Valdés,who has reportedly been stripped of a squad number after he was accused of refusing to play for the Under-21 side, as well as being forced to train alone; though this did not play a part in the winger’s final decision.
Pedro said:
It’s true that I don’t like that treatment for my colleagues, especially for Victor, who has been a reference as a team-mate and as a professional.
Instead, Chelsea’s £21.2m man revealed he moved to London because the Blues were the more determined to sign the Spaniard; with the prospect of living in the capital also playing a part in his decision.
I don’t believe it’s fair, but it didn’t influence my decision. I just saw that Manchester didn’t take that move forward, that they were taking too long. Chelsea were more decisive.
I had an important chat with José Mourinho and he said many things that I liked to hear. That, combined with the possibility to live in London, was what made me decide.
The 28-year-old has had an instant impact since Chelsea snatched the Spain international from United’s grasp, he’s scored one goal and has had two assists already in his Blues’ career.
The winger will be hoping to add to both tallies when Chelsea face Everton on Saturday 12th September, in what is could be a rather heated tie, considering Chelsea’s less-than-subtle pursuit of Toffees’ defender John Stones.
