Diego Costa has revealed how happy he is at Chelsea despite reports during the summer claiming he was unsettled and seeking a move back to Atletico Madrid.
It was reported during the summer that Costa wanted a move back to Atleti after he had apparently failed to settle in England during his first season with Chelsea.
However, his form showed otherwise. The striker notched an impressive 20 Premier League goals in his first season in England, playing a major part in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign, as well as the Blues’ Capital One Cup success as well.
Jose Mourinho was quick to address the reports after a post-season friendly win over Sydney FC, with Costa later stating that the report was not true.
The Brazilian-born Spanish striker has once again reiterated his content for life at Chelsea, whilst also revealing he never sought after a return to Madrid according to the Evening Stanard.
He said, “You only consider that when you receive something [an offer]. I had a great season at Chelsea and I was a champion.
“Everyone knows the affection I have for Atletico and how much I like this city, but London is another life and I’m also happy there.”
Costa is set to join Spanish teammates Pedro, Cesar Azpilicueta and Cesc Fabregas ahead of Spain’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia on Saturday.
The striker revealed the need to increase his goal scoring tally for Spain to boost his confidence, with Costa only having one goal to show for his seven appearances.
“What I’m missing is to score goals, to play better and feel better physically. I know I can give a lot more and I hope I can start to show that now. Each time I’m here, I feel more comfortable, I feel more in tune with the group.”
Here is an in-depth look at the Chelsea players who will be representing their national side during this international break.
