Chelsea have announced the signing of Spanish winger Pedro from Barcelona.
The Spaniard signs for a transfer fee believed to be €30 million, even though his buyout clause was priced at €150 million when he restructured his contract in June 2014. Though being considered a success at Barcelona, the previous transfers of Neymar and Luis Suarez to Barcelona have minimized playing time for the Spaniard.
The 28-year-old becomes, as of now, the biggest signing by the Blues this summer.
Following an embarrassing 3-0 away defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, reports have came out suggesting owner Roman Abramovich has approved the transfers of at least three new players, with Pedro being one and Everton defender John Stones being the another if Chelsea are willing to pay the price.
In nine seasons with Barcelona, Pedro has bagged 99 goals in 321 appearances (all competitions).
Pedro joins follow Spanish internationals Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta. He will also provide direct competition with Willian on the right wing, and only time will tell how long before he takes over the reigns on the right flank.
