Jose Mourinho has adressed the media prior to his team’s match against Arsenal. During his pre-match press conference, Mourinho was questioned on his players, his transfer targets and more. Here are some of the key quotes from the press conference.
Chelsea’s strike force has been questioned already ahead of this upcoming season, concerns have been raised over the possibility of injuries leaving Chelsea short up front, Mourinho replied with this: “I believe (Costa is free of injury), but I’m not worried about it. I go match after match. Three top strikers. If one is injured we have two. No concerns, no protections. It’s a position where we’re very strong.”
A player who looks to be firmly on Chelsea’s radar is John Stone, Mourinho refuses to be drawn to speculation. “I don’t speak about players from other clubs, especially now competition starts,”
Focus soon turned to Sunday’s game, with one player in particular in mind. When asked if there could be a problem facing Petr Cech, Mourinho simply said: “I did it already. Inter against Chelsea. No problem.”
The special one also refused to comment on his personal record against Arsenal, an impressive one at that. “I never made my victories over Arsenal an explosion of happiness or special pride. I will not make a drama if one day we lose.”
“(But) we always try to play for a result and Community Shield has a motivation, obviously different than just a friendly or just a summer tournament. I would say it’s the start of the competition.”
