Jose Mourinho has hailed Eden Hazard for his excellent season. In a report by Jacob Murtagh of the Mirror, Mourinho has said the Belgian winger had a better season than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo beat the likes of Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer to the Ballon D’Or last season, however Mourinho believes his player out performed the former United man. “Last season, yes (I would put Eden above Ronaldo). In spite of the fact that Ronaldo was fantastic. He was fantastic. He scored an incredible number of goals. I am not saying he is not fantastic. I am not saying he was not fantastic.”
Mourinho clearly feels Hazard deserves the credit, with his willingness to put the team first a deciding factor. “I am just saying that, in my personal view, every football player in the world should understand that a team has to be in front and no titles …”
An interesting comparison has emerged of the two players from Opta Stats, the two players are compared on these two charts.
An interesting reading from this first chart, Ronaldo is above Hazard in all statistics other than games played. The chart does show figures of someone that may have their eye on the goal rather than the team. As the second chart shows, Hazard is much more of a team player.
Hazard excels in statistics that would show he puts the team first. What do you think? Do you agree with Mourinho? Can Hazard go on to win the Ballon D’Or?
