Jose Mourinho is believed to be preparing a second bid for John Stones, the Special one is hoping to seal a deal before the Community Shield tie against Arsenal.
According to John Percy of the Telegraph, a £26m bid is expected to be lodged from the Blues after Everton turned away their previous bid of £20m. Numerous reports have suggested that Chelsea will need to pay a record fee for Stones to move to Stamford Bridge. Earlier today,we brought you the news that Stones wants a chance to leave Everton, should the chance arise.
The current record fee is the £32m Manchester United paid Southampton, for the services of left back Luke Shaw. Chelsea will surely have to increase their bid in what looks to set to be the latest transfer battle of the summer. Should Chelsea make a record bid for Stones, his former side Barnsley could receive around £5m, according to reports.
Chelsea’s defence has come under scrutiny during their pre-season tour, after they conceded four in one half to New York Red Bulls and drew 1-1 to PSG in ninety minutes.
