If you had asked Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas their expectations for the season ahead, as they joined Chelsea, they definitely would have been very happy with a double.
Spanish team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta has told the London Evening Standard that the pair can reach another level in performances. The defender said: “We know their quality and despite what they did last season, they want to do better. They are competitive and have a winning mentality. They will not just settle for what they did before and will want to do more. Last season was amazing but they are looking to go even further.”
As well as winning two trophies, they impressed individually also. Costa was the third highest scoring Premier League striker and Cesc Fabregas broken assist records throughout the season.
Azpilicueta sent out a clear warning to the rest of the Premier League: “Should that worry the other teams? Yes. What they do is key for us. The amount of goals and assists these two players give us make the difference. The numbers in their first season was amazing and can be again.”
When asked about Costa’s niggling injuries, the Spaniard replied: “Diego is looking sharper than ever. He has been working on this and his fitness and it is already showing in training. His aim is to be 100 per cent all season, from the start to the end.”
