Former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Premier League legends Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard by moving to the MLS according to John Cross of the Mirror.
It is currently unknown which club Drogba will join, with LA Galaxy strong favourites and with the history of the club signing Premier League talent including the likes of David Beckham and Robbie Keane, there is a strong chance they could look to Drogba, who boasts an impressive goal scoring tally.
37-year-old Drogba has reportedly rejected a move to many top European sides, including Porto, with the Ivorian only interested in a move to the MLS.
In May, Drogba was questioned on if a possible move to America interested him, with the former Marseille forward saying: “Yeah of course, but I am going to take a few days, few weeks to think about what is good for me next. But all I want to do is play.
“A few years ago when I left, I said it before, I would never play for another English team. No disrespect to them, there are some brilliant, fantastic teams in the Premier League, but my love for this club, I can’t share it with another team.”
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for Chelsea during his first spell at the club, which lasted seven years, before rejoining the club last season and making 38 appearances, scoring seven goals.
Drogba also boasts a number of major honours, including four Premier League titles, four FA Cup triumphs, three League Cups, and famously scored the winner in the UEFA Champions League final.
