Major League Soccer (MLS) team Sporting Kansas City are interested in acquiring the services of Chelsea’s Marko Marin, according to Simon Johnson of The Evening Standard.
The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his contract but a future at Stamford Bridge looks unlikely.
This has given hope to the American side and their chief executive, Robb Heineman, will be negotiating a deal for the midfielder.
Marin was signed as a highly-rated player by Chelsea in 2012 from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. He failed to establish himself in the side as he only made a handful of appearances.
The following season, he was sent out on loan to Spanish side Sevilla and featured more regularly.
Last season, he spent the first half of the season at Fiorentina and the latter half at Belgian club Anderlecht. His career has failed to progress in the way he would have liked.
Marin also has a number of appearances for Germany and made the World Cup squad in 2010. You can read more about the rise and fall of Marko Marin here.
