Chelsea have reportedly opened talks between Ramires over a new deal, writes Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail. The energetic midfielder has two years remaining on his current contract which runs out in 2017.
Chelsea are believed to keen to tie down Ramires with John Obi Mikel reportedly on his way out of Stamford Bridge. Talks will reportedly take place throughout the summer. Ramires suffered a mixed season at Chelsea, with consistency hard to come by. Since joining in 2010, Ramires has been an important member of the Blues’ midfield.
The 28 year old suffered an injury struck campaign and was limited to only a total of 29 appearances in all competitions. During those games, Ramires managed to score 4 goals and 4 assists. Ramires missed the last game of the season and the title celebrations through a kidney injury.
The details of the new contract have not yet been discussed. The Brazilian is reportedly earning around £65,000 a week. Despite reported interest from Juventus, Mourinho is a big admirer of Ramires and is very much in his plans.
