Chelsea have attempted to sign Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to the Mirror. Jose Mourinho has targeted the England international and is keen on adding him to his ranks. The Blues are resigned to losing goalkeeper Petr Cech, and his next destination may well be Arsenal, due to his desire to remain in London. Mourinho is battling to hold on to the Czech Republic international and does not want to sell him to direct title rivals. But he may be interested in acquiring the services of Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of a player-plus-cash deal.
But his opposite number, Arsene Wenger, has no desire to let the pacey winger go and is adamant that he will stay at the Emirates.
Arsenal want to sign Cech in a straight cash deal that is believed to be in the region of £10m and Chelsea will respect the ‘keeper’s wishes if he keen on a move to North London. The goalkeeper is attracting interest from around Europe so it remains to be seen how his transfer away from Stamford Bridge will pan out.
