According to the Mirror, Ex-Chelsea Coach Dermot Drummy has been offered a senior manager job with Rio-based side, Bangu. The 54-year-old manager will fly down to South America in order to discuss the job and visit the club.
“This is a huge opportunity, and for an English manager making this step is almost unprecedented,” said Drummy “I will fly out with my management team to Rio within the next week or so to hold talks with Bangu. The club is proud of its English roots and I have been offered an opportunity to transform the club from top to bottom – it’s an exciting project.”
Drummy is well known for his excellent work with both Arsenal and Chelsea’s academy. His experience is widely regarded by the Brazilian club.
“We welcome Dermot’s extensive knowledge and experience of the game and see him as a valuable asset in our mission to elevate the club,” said Bangu president Jorge Varela.
Drummy has been looking to make the move to senior management for a while now. He is considered a candidate for coaching positions at Notts County and Crystal Palace. With a little luck, the Englishman can transition into a world-class manager, similar to the likes of Ex-Chelsea coach Brendan Rodgers. Drummy certainly has the coaching tools to be a great manager. However, he will now need to add the experience in order to be widely regarded by the bigger clubs. This opportunity at Bangu seems like the perfect stepping-stone into management for the 54-year-old.
