According to the London Evening Standard, Andreas Chirstensen is set to be rewarded with a new five year contract at Chelsea. The Dane has just twelve months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and reports from earlier in the season suggested he could leave Stamford Bridge to develop his game.
It is believed that Christensen will sign the contract extension and be loaned to Bundesliga side, Borussia Mochengladbach for the next two seasons. Christensen has struggled to break through at Chelsea due to the fine form of both Gary Cahill and John Terry, as well as this the inclusion of Kurt Zouma. Christensen has featured for Chelsea this season against the likes of Shrewsbury and Bradford in the League Cup and FA Cup respectively. He also came off the bench in Chelsea’s final Premier League game of the season.
A loan move to the Bundesliga would allow him to play an important role in their campaign whilst playing alongside former Thorgan Hazard, whom Chelsea sold permanently this season. Could this be just what Christensen needs?
