Chelsea and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that the West London did make a few mistakes in this seasons Champions League tournament, but he is happy with the season unfolded, when speaking to IBTimes.
Ex-Barcelona man Fabregas has added another two trophies to his collection, in his first season at Mourinho’s side. He won the Capital One Cup earlier on in the season, adding to his recent 1st Premier League trophy.
Two weeks ago, Chelsea wrapped up the Premier League title at home to South London club, Crystal Palace. After dominating and being top of the league throughout, the end result wasn’t something that was a shock, to anyone.
However, in European’s elite competition, the Blues were found out in the Round of 16 stage by Paris-Saint Germain. Crashed out by the Ligue 1 side, Chelsea made several mistakes over the course of both legs – which ended in PSG progressing on away goals.
The odds were heavily stacked in the favour of the Blues, with a draw in the first leg, 1-1. Fate seemed to be on their side when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent-off, when he probably shouldn’t have been. But this spurred the French side on, and winning the tie.
“The first leg in Paris, I think we played a solid game. A [1-1] draw was a good result for us,” said the former Arsenal star.
